![]() ![]() Wirelessly… this has got to be impossible. Sony recommends a 5 Mbps connection to use Playstation Now optimally: I was playing on a wired connection with 80 Mbps download and 75 Mbps upload. It kind of works but, if games that depend on precision and reflexes are unplayable on it, what's the point? I don't want to subscribe to a streaming service where half of the best games are just going to be a lousy experience if played through that service. I'm so disappointed by the Playstation Now experience. ![]() This in addition to the constant little 'latency warnings' that pop-up on screen, even when everything seems fine. Playstation Now had kicked me off the server for being idle for too long. I can take dying, I can take a game's AI beating me, but bullshit like that is the only thing that would ever make me throw a controller at the wall.īrilliantly, I took a break to make a cup of tea and faff about, and when I returned to my PC around ten minutes later. The game just froze momentarily, then started again, and of course Kratos got clocked and died. There were three enemies, I got one down, I was battering the other two, one of them swung and I dodged… just a split-second after Playstation Now lagged for what was genuinely one or two seconds. The coup de grace came when, during one encounter, I was nearly dead but hanging on. And for a game called God of War, that's a problem. It's basically fine when you're not fighting. You can change the difficulty in God of War, so I whacked it down just to play on for a bit longer (one of the few blessings of PS Now is that, if I want to continue, the new save will be on my PS4). I decided to just play on for a bit and rely on dodge-rolls rather than parrying, but even here the tiny delays began to irritate me. ![]() I quickly realised that, while I was indeed playing God of War on my PC, I wasn't able to play it as intended. Here's where I started to detect the input lag, which is fractional but basically makes actions that require tight timing (like parrying) a nightmare. Predictably enough I got filleted in the first encounter while I tried to work out the buttons and remember this combat system's kinks, but I was back in practice with parrying attacks on the second go. I've played through God of War before and enjoy the challenge of hack-and-slash experiences, so I bumped up the difficulty to the second-hardest setting. Fortunately, doing so will also open up the door to some of the other great video game releases scheduled for 2018.Playstation Now simply can't handle this type of game. Those who want to catch up on all the latest with Kratos and his son will have to pick up a PlayStation 4. Still, players holding their breaths waiting for the new God of War reboot to land on a non-Sony platform are likely to suffocate before seeing such an event come to pass. That's not to say that Xbox One or Xbox One X owners don't have their fair share of exclusives - Sea of Thieves is a current favorite Microsoft exclusive, and the Gears of War series has long been a competitor to Sony's iconic god-slayer, even if the two game series don't occupy the same genre. The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End are among some of the bigger current exclusives on the PlayStation 4 market, but God of War has been leading the charge on Sony hardware for well over a decade now. ![]() Part of drawing fans into a specific hardware platform involves offering up games and experiences exclusive to that platform, and God of War is arguably Sony's biggest trump card when it comes to games that can't be found anywhere else. The God of War series has been primarily developed at Sony's Santa Monica Studio, and has remained a PlayStation exclusive series ever since its original debut back in 2005 for the PlayStation 2. Sadly, the answer is no - God of War will almost certainly never release for Xbox One, Xbox One X, or the Xbox 360. Will God of War Launch for Xbox One or Xbox 360? However, some players who may not be familiar with the franchise are left wondering if God of War will ever break free of its PlayStation 4 chains and release for the Xbox One or Xbox 360. The initial impressions seem very clear - Kratos' latest adventure is not one that series fans will want to miss. Tensions have been mounting among action fans as the God of War release date draws ever closer. ![]()
